West Coast
Anna Hawes
Hey! My name is Anna. I was born and bred on the Wild West Coast in a small town called Westport. I have been surfing for seventeen years now. Eight years of my surfing life was in Raglan where I attended the Raglan Surfing Academy. I moved back to Westport 7 years ago and now have two children.
I have competed in surf competitions throughout all my life with my biggest achievements being first place in two Under 18 National Scholastic titles and winning the South Island Circuit for the Women’s Open.
From when I started surfing I have never stopped. Surfing on the West Coast is something very special. It is known for its big swell and crazy weather but it definitely does have pumping waves! You tend to know everyone you are surfing with and the Wahine crew is expanding all the time. We have a massive local boardriders crew with a handful of women.
I love surfing with other wahine in the water and would love to surf different spots with all the wahine rippers!
